On April 1st The Gathering, a compilation CD featuring Zoltan and 7 other new artists from around the world, was released on CD Baby.

The cover art for my album, First Fantasy, has been uploaded to the discography section. The album recording has all been finished and is currently being mixed and mastered by Andrew Aversa (A.K.A. Zircon) from Overclocked ReMix (http://ocremix.org/). Once the mastering is finished I will need additional funding in order to manufacture 500 copies. So I will be running a kickstarter campaign to crowd fund the release. The album is sounding very great and I have already put many months of work into it. I look forward to seeing you all at the finish line. The tentative kickstarter date is April 13th. Look forward to some awesome rewards.

UPDATE: I have had some major setbacks causing me to delay the Kickstarter activation date until further notice. Also, since Kickstarter is not available to Japanese residents I will be running the campaign at RocketHub.com. My apologies to the fans for making you wait.

The official release date for The Gathering has been confirmed. It will be available for purchase digitally and physically at CDBaby.com on April 1st. It is a compilation album that contains eight tracks from various new artists from all over the world. The Zoltan track is one from the upcoming debut album First Fantasy, however the album version will have a completely different guitar sound and a different vocalist.

Yes!  I have a sweet announcement.  The demo for my heavy metal puzzle adventure game The Hegg will be available for download on January 30th at zoltanmetal.com/gamedev.

As the completion of my first full length album approaches, I have begun creating something new.  I am excited to announce my very first video game, “The Hegg”.  The Hegg is a puzzle/adventure game about a man who suddenly finds himself under a curse that has robbed him of his voice.  Since falling under this curse his life has become a mere shadow of what it used to be and so decides to ask a well known wizard to dispel the curse.  It’s set in medieval times and is being developed with RPG Maker VX Ace.  The game will feature RPG Maker sprite graphics, an original soundtrack, and a charming atmosphere.  The gameplay will consist of 30 puzzles ranging from easy to very difficult.  Development has been underway for the past 3 weeks and a LOT of progress has been made.  Watch for The Hegg some time in 2013.

A double update today.  I recently collaborated with George ShredKing Engelbrecht on a short and awesome classical heavy metal track.  ShredKing is the guitarist for a South African metal band called Strident, as well as a great guitar teacher, and an upcoming solo musician.  His first solo album, although there is no official, is scheduled to release in the near future.  You can listen to our new track on the ShredKing’s SoundCloud.

I just finished a wonderful remix of “Overture” from the Final Fantasy VI original soundtrack. The original tune is wonderful and that in turn makes my remix wonderful. Plus it has wonderful Zoltan-esque riffs in it to further add to the wonderfulness. The mixing and mastering was masterfully performed by Garrett Williamson A.K.A. G-Mixer on OverClocked ReMix. A track from my upcoming album has been selected by legendary guitar teacher and current guitarist of Rhapsody of Fire, Tom Hess to be on a compilation album. The CD is called The Gathering and is a compilation of 8 different students of Tom Hess. Which means that, yes, I am a student of Tom Hess. The Zoltan track that was chosen is called “Blame Yourself or God”. This track is inspired by the song “Battle on the Bridge” from the Final Fantasy Tactics soundtrack and sports brutal lyrics about the blood of nobles and peasants.

The creator of ZOLTAN, Jahan Honma has. . . OK. I’m done talking about myself in the 3rd person. This is the ACTUAL Legendary Zoltan giving you an update on EXACTLY what’s going on in the world of The Zoltan. Right now I’m recruiting various instrumentalists to play bass, sing, and do a few solos on the upcoming album. I currently have about 4 people working on recordings for me but I will not announce them until they have neared completion of their tasks. I’m trying not to make the same mistake as some game companies. For now, I’d like to announce that Meteo Xavier from Overclocked ReMix and 12 Followers will be contributing an excellent keyboard solo. I know it’s excellent because I’ve already heard it. Look forward to hearing his solo on track 7 of the album, First Fantasy. Enjoy lots of other music from 12 Followers/Meteo Xavier on his official site.
